The difficulty involved in the leadership selection process necessary to "put the right man in the right place" is well acknowledged. Rising to this challenge, Whitestone uses an approach based on a thorough understanding and solid working knowledge of our client's business model.
Our role is of a strategic partner with our clients, offering experienced, objective insights on executive search, market intelligence and responsiveness, and developing strategies that will help our clients dominate their markets by investing in the correct people.
Every step of our executive search process has the focus of serving the client's need and is tailored to the objectives of the assignment. It starts with a clear understanding of our client's business - its history, culture, operations, needs - and the scope of the assignment.
Step 1.
Client Consultations - We conduct a thorough meeting with the hiring executive and relevant members of the management team to determine the requirements for the position and to identify all other important factors about the company, culture, competition, etc.
Step 2.
Candidate Search - For each executive search assignment, we will develop a comprehensive recruitment strategy and cull support information including personality and motivation factors necessary to identify suitable individuals. We conduct meetings with potential candidates to validate their pertinent skills and experience and to assess such things as strategic vision, creativity and cultural fit. These meetings also allow us to engage the individual in discussions that help us to assess their communications and interpersonal abilities.
Step 3.
Presentation of Candidates - The executive search process is a constant process of elimination that ultimately results in a short list of the highest potential candidates for the position. At this stage, we meet with the client to review each candidate extensively and their unique set of qualifications.
Step 4.
Client/Candidate Meetings - We then make the necessary arrangements such as travel needs and discreet scheduling for the client and the top candidates to meet and appropriately brief each party for the meeting. After the meetings we provide feedback to each party and assist the client in evaluating and comparing the individual candidates. The decision to select the final candidate is always the client's and we assist them in any way we can to make the best possible decision.
Step 5.
Negotiations and Compensation - When the client is ready to make an offer to a selected candidate, we will advise the client on the compensation package. Most high potential candidates are successfully engaged and not seeking to make a change. Thus, we will assist in positioning the opportunity to appeal to the aspirations and desires of the individual. We will also manage the expectations of the candidate so that he or she will accept the offer with minimal hesitation.
Step 6.
The Resignation - This is a critical stage as there is still a possibility of a counter offer by the candidate's present employer. We will prepare the successful candidate for resignation and counsel the candidate on the impact of accepting the counter offer on his or her career.
Step 7.
Client Follow-Up - We have a long term, vested interest in the success of both our client and the successful candidate. Therefore, we work to facilitate the transition and continue to act as a liaison during the assessment period of the executive placement.
